Human health and social work activities

The type of economic activity "Human health and social work activities" includes the provision of health care and social assistance services. The activity includes a wide range of activities from healthcare activities conducted by qualified medical professionals in hospitals and other institutions, therapeutic measures at home for social work without any involvement of medical professionals.

In this type of economic activity 25.7 thousand active enterprises of Ukraine are employed (4.2% of the total number of active enterprises). The leader in the number of active enterprises is the city of Kyiv - 4667 enterprises (18.2% of the number of active enterprises of this type of economic activity), followed by Dnipropetrovsk region - 1768 enterprises (6.9%) and Lviv region - 1704 enterprises (6.6 %)

The volume of sales of goods (goods, services) by enterprises of this type of economic activity is 13.9 billion UAH (0.2% of the total volume of sales of goods and services).

The employed population in Human health and social work activities provided 1030.4 thousand people (6.3% of the total employment of the country). The need for employers in employees according to the data of the state employment service at the end of 2016 amounted to 2.7 thousand people. In 2016, 18,1 thousand people were employed in this type of economic activity from the total number of registered unemployed. It is 5.9% lower than in the previous year and accounts for 4.4% of the total number of employed unemployed.

The average monthly wage in this type of economic activity for 2016 is 3400 UAH (including health care - 3435 UAH), which is 34,4% lower than in the economy as a whole. Thus, the level of remuneration in health care institutions remains more than one third lower than the average for the economy, in education - by 27,3% less. In general, 2.9% of educators and 3.1% of health workers and social workers receive wages at the minimum wage level (in 2015 these figures were 2.5% and 2.7% respectively). In the field of health care and social assistance, women receive wages 10.7% lower than men (11.4% lower in health care).
